It seems the first of the month, any month, sneaks up on me. I’ve been working on several different projects today and just realized it was May 1st. Since time permits, here is the look at last month’s statistics. April 2011 will be a complete month on Regular Unleaded and other than sluggishness, I can’t say I’ve noticed a huge difference.
April 2011 Statistics
Miles Driven: 2994
Average MPG: 23.581
Maximum MPG: 24.924
Minimum MPG: 21.885
Average $/gallon: 3.589
The first statistic I notice is how few miles I drove last month. The calendar fell with me traveling only two weeks last month and working locally the rest of the month. The next stand-out is the lowered gas mileage. The drop is over 1 mpg, which is substantial for me. This is even worse than the January numbers and I don’t have a good answer.
The Regular Unleaded didn’t have this effect last month, so I’m hard pressed to blame it solely on that this month. I think I’d rather blame it on the original spark plugs that MUST be moved to the top of my to-do list.
I’m leaning toward the E3 plugs, as I’ve mentioned before. With only six plugs, its not much more expensive, but from the test results I’ve seen, It could prove a significant improvement.
The average price for a gallon of gasoline rose another $.14/gallon in the last 30 days. In January 2011, it was $3.04, which translates to a $.54/gallon increase.
There you have another month from the heart of Texas.
Be safe out there.
